Dr. Denise Kyte works with older adolescents (19+) and adults, helping individuals with a broad range of mental health concerns including challenges with mood (e.g., depression or bipolar), and anxiety disorders (e.g., panic attacks, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and specific phobias). Dr. Kyte also provides treatment for trauma-related concerns (e.g., posttraumatic stress and acute stress), and obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD).
Dr. Kyte is committed to evidence-based practice that takes into consideration the individual and whole person. Depending on need, example treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Prolonged Exposure (PE), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), the Unified Protocol (UP), as well as attachment/relational-based therapies and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) informed strategies. Dr. Kyte maintains a developmental, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive lens with her clinical work.
Dr. Kyte completed her undergraduate degree at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. She completed Masters degrees in Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Psychology, along with a PhD in Clinical Psychology, at Suffolk University in Boston, MA followed by her pre-doctoral residency in Clinical Psychology with Nova Scotia Health (NSH)-Western Zone/Valley Regional Hospital. Her training experiences span across inpatient, partial hospital, outpatient, community-based, and private practice settings. She also has considerable experience in comprehensive psychodiagnostic assessment. Dr. Kyte currently works as a staff Psychologist with the NSH Clinical Virtual Care Team (CVCT) with NS Health.
