Dr. Breagh Newcombe works with individuals across the lifespan (aged 6-55) with a focus on helping others overcome their struggles with anxiety and trauma. She uses evidence-based treatment approaches, primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
Dr. Newcombe works with individuals who are experiencing difficulties in a variety of areas including anxiety (e.g., separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic, phobias), mood, coping with stress, adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem, difficulty managing emotions, suicidal thoughts, tic disorders, ADHD, body image concerns, eating disorders, and mental health concerns during perinatal and postpartum periods.
Dr. Newcombe completed her undergraduate degree at Saint Francis Xavier University, received her Masters degree in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University and completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of New Brunswick. She completed her pre-doctoral internship in London Ontario at the Child and Parent Recourse Institute (CPRI), London Health Science Center (LHSC), and Parkwood Institute, where she received training in individual and group-based interventions and comprehensive assessments in both inpatient and outpatient settings with children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Newcombe currently works as a Staff Psychologist at the IWK on two services - Community Mental Health and Addiction and Reproductive Mental Health.
