Dr. Bonnie McNeill works with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide range of mental health concerns. She provides evidence-based treatment, drawing primarily from cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), while also integrating strategies from motivational interviewing and dialectical behavioural approaches.
Dr. McNeill has extensive experience treating anxiety disorders (including separation anxiety, social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias), mood difficulties (such as depression and bipolar disorder), and challenges related to stress, life transitions, self-esteem, emotion regulation, suicidal thoughts, and habit disorders. She has a particular specialty and clinical interest in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
Dr. McNeill completed her undergraduate studies at Dalhousie University before earning her Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She completed her clinical residency at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, where she went on to work for nine years on the inpatient mental health unit (Garron Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health) and for several years with the IWK OCD Specific Care Clinic. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. McNeill is an Adjunct Clinical Associate at Dalhousie University.
